New Association Looks Out for Canadian Domain Name Owners

October 2, 2008 – Niagara Falls, Ontario

At long last a new association promising to address the concerns of Canadian domain owners is being launched.

In order to represent the interests of Canadian domain name owners, the Domain Owners Association of Canada (DOAC) aims to protect and increase the value of its members’ domain names.

“It’s high time Canadian domain owners get their voices heard,” says Peter Maxymych, President of Emall.ca and founder of the Domain Owners Association of Canada. “Domain owners in Canada have often felt like they are working alone. This does not have to be the case. With this association we can work together to promote our interests in domaining.”

The Domain Owners Association of Canada will kick off with a formation meeting at the inaugural Domain Convergence conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario on October 7, 2008.

“We are looking forward to helping launch the ground-breaking association for domain owners,” says Frank Michlick, Chairman of the Domain Convergence conference. “Canadian domain name owners have contributed immensely to the domain name industry and it is comforting to know an organization will have our backs.”

More information about the Domain Owners Association of Canada will be released on www.doac.ca once the association is officially launched. In the meantime, please contact Zak Muscovitch, the association’s solicitor, at the coordinates below for details.

About Domain Convergence
The Domain Convergence conference gives domain name portfolio owners, developers, and monetization experts the opportunity to meet and share ideas in an open information exchange atmosphere. For more information, visit www.DomainConvergence.com.

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) September 30, 2008 — Domain Convergence, a domain-industry conference and educational meeting to be held in Niagara Falls, Ontario from October 6-8, 2008, will feature a live premium domain name auction. The auction is operated by Fusu, the domain aftermarket specialist.

Fusu’s live auction platform will debut on October 8th, 2008 at 3:00pm EDT. The auction is scheduled for 1 hour live at the conference and will extend to a seven day Internet auction for domains that were not sold during the live auction. Fusu will charge a 15% fee to the seller, plus 1% upfront of the reserve price as a listing fee to encourage lower reserves. Fusu’s exclusivity period for the domain sale is 30 days.

“Our aim is to put together a great conference for the Canadian and international domainer community, filled with valuable sessions and opportunities to network. The live auction is the icing on the cake,” said Frank Michlick, chairman of DomainConvergence.

Domain Convergence is aiming for around 30 to 40 hand-picked, well-priced domains, set at a fair and reasonable price. The audience will consist of a select group of domainers and Internet marketing professionals, but bidding will also be available online.

Domain name owners are requested to submit their domains via email to auction@domainconvergence.com until October 4th, 2008 and include their reserve price as well as their postal address and phone number.

About DomainConvergence

When we were planning this conference, we were focused on picking a time between other conferences (Targeted T.R.A.F.F.I.C. New York, the Sedo Pro Partner Forum and T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Down Under) that allows attendees to decide which event they want to visit without having to travel from one to the next. On top of this, we had to consider availability of the hotel and the timing around Canadian and US holidays.

The downside to so many considerations is compromise. So it’s less than perfect that we are ending our conference on during the Jewish New Year period (Yom Kippur), but it is a choice we had to make.

Now why did we pick Niagara Falls as our location, you may ask. Well, especially after attending the SedoPro Partner Forum last year, I realized how important it can be to “get away from it all”. But we still had the challenge of picking a place that is somewhat easy to reach for travelers. If I remember my taxi ride from the Miami Airport to TRAFFIC in Florida correctly, it took about the same time it would take you to get to Niagara Falls from the Buffalo, NY (BUF) airport or from Hamilton, ON (YHM) or just a tad longer than coming from Toronto Pearson, ON (YYZ).

Plus US citizens now have the advantage of crossing the border in Niagara Falls, which means that they do not need a passport in order to come into Canada, which they would need when they do fly into Canada directly.

A problem for smokers may be our choice of hotel – Marriott, which, like most of the big hotel chains, does not offer smoking rooms any more. Unfortunately none of the hotels that ended up in our final selection offered this option, despite one of our planning members being a smoker herself. I do hope though that we’ll still have some warm fall days so our smoking attendees will not be freezing outside.

We’ve been trying to think of everyone.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Domain Convergence Domain-Industry Conference Coming to Niagara Falls, October 6-8

Conference Focusing on Domain Monetization and Portfolio Management

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario (September 4, 2008) – Domain Convergence, a domain-industry conference and educational meeting, will be held in Niagara Falls, Ontario from October 6-8, 2008. The conference will focus on domain name development and monetization as well as domain portfolio management.

“The focus of the Domain Convergence conference is to foster an open information exchange,” said Frank Michlick, Chairman of Domain Convergence. “Too often in our industry there is an air of secrecy and mystery. This conference is a forum for people of all portfolio sizes and earning levels to come together and share their insights.”

The multi-billion dollar domain name industry has often been compared to other ventures that award a pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial nature – most commonly, the real estate industry. Domaining offers nearly anyone the ability to speculatively purchase a domain name and develop it into a Web site property or offer it for sale or lease in order to turn a profit.

The conference will be especially helpful for portfolio owners who wish to better learn how to develop and monetize their domain names. Sessions will include discussion on parking versus development, development tools and techniques, domain name owners’ rights and more.

Domain Convergence will be held at the Marriott Fallsview & Spa in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Early bird registration is available through September 10. A limited number of rooms are available at a reduced rate of $179, and can be reserved through the conference information line. In addition, there are a few sponsorship opportunities still available.

For more information about Domain Convergence, visit www.DomainConvergence.com, or call (800) 614-3780.
